Fisher 500 T

Fisher 500T

Here’s a classic from the transitional era when manufacturers were moving from tubes to transistors. Fisher had their 500 series of receivers that were extremely popular. So, when they made the transition to transistors they introduced the Fisher 500 T in the mid 60’s.  It retailed for around $400.00. As you can see it has that traditional early 60’s design features with the brass knobs and mix of earth tone browns and more industrial silver colors. It has a nice warm look to it.

The Fisher 500-T supplied 28 watts per channel and was FM only. Now, there as a 500 TX model from Fisher as well that came out in the late 60’s very early 70’s. The TX version had AM and FM, four FM channel pre-sets as well as what they called Auto-Scan FM tuning instead of a tuning capacitor circuit. It also look quite a bit different then the 500T.

Fisher 500T Inputs

All of the the Fisher 500 series receivers are popular with collectors but the tube versions are definitely in higher demand then solid state versions.  A quality Fisher 500 C will sell for $600-$1000.00 while a comparable 500 T will run about $300-$400.
