  1. The weight stated in this article is incorrect for the SX-950. It weighs 41.6 pounds, not 55 pounds.

It also neglects to mention a handy feature — the Adapter switch which can be used for an EQ or RG processor, which is preferable to using the Pre-out/Main-in jumpers.

      1. THESE RECEIVERS WERE OVERBUILT TO LAST 40 PLUS YEARS-THE COMPONENTS WERE FIRST CLASS AND NO EFFORT WAS SPARED TO ASSURE QUALITY THROUGHOUT-THESE RECEIVERS WILL ONLY GO UP IN PRICE-LOOK ON THE WEB AND SEE WHAT THEY SOLD FOR 5-8 YEARS AGO-AND NOW-IF YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO GET A GOOD WORKING ONE WITH MINOR ISSUES-GET IT NOW OR PAY MORE LATER

  2. I just bought an sx-838. does anyone know how the bass turnover switch works. Do you set the tone for each of the two frequencies, or does the switch mean you are setting the tone for only one of the two frequencies and the other goes back to neutral? Honestly I don’t understand it.

  3. I purchased an SX 950 on Ebay fully restored to like new condition for 1000.00 and I think I made a good purchase . It takes me back to a more relaxed and peaceful time in our world and the 85 WPC is plenty to run the HPM 900 series that I have i also have the s710’s and the s910’s all of which sound great. Pioneer rocked back then and still do today. Thank You!

  4. Bryan above made reference to an adaptor switch and a EQ or RG processor and I was wondering if anybody knew what that was, brand name, etc. Thanks.
